The decision on wether we should remain members of the CFS begins soon. Progressive students should take a stand and help to remain with other students unions in the fight to eliminate tuition fees. This is important, there is no other democratic organization that represents students across the country.

ReplyDeleteWhat about CASA and similar organizations? It's simply untrue to say that the CFS is the only group out there...
The comment still stands, because CASA is not democratic. Students are not members of CASA, the unions are. If you really want top down management they are your A1 choice.

ReplyDeleteWell I know as a student that I am not allowed to attend CFS meetings... How do you reconcile that with being democratic?
As a member of a Trade Union you cannot attend Federation of Labour meetings without being elected as a delegate. Not every Canadian can represent Canada at the U.N., only the democratically appointed representatives.
ReplyDeleteEvery student can go to CFS meetings, and the democratic process to choose delegations is up to the individual students union.
